My boyfriend tells me this…I know he doesn’t understand and occasionally just sees me as weak, but he is always sympathetic. He knows when I’m about to have a freak out and there are a few times that he really really pushes me through, either making me deal with it or knowing whats happening and holding my hand through it. Last weekend we were at a store and i wanted to know my ring size, so I tried one on and it got stuck. He saw sheer terror on my face and simply said “Don’t panic”, and I didn’t. I know it sounds crazy but when I start to have an anxiety attack my mind seems to split in two, one side saying “your overreacting. just stop.” and the other side saying “PANIC!”. Sometimes having someone grab my face and make me look them in the eye and saying calmly, without scolding, “Don’t Panic” really helps. It pulls me back down and reminds me everything is going to be ok.
